A race to capture a fugitive takes place in "Prisoner's Dilemma" as reformed con artist Neal Caffrey (Matthew Bomer) must help Peter Burke (Tim DeKay), who is on the run from a corrupt U.S. Marshall.
First things first, Elizabeth is back!
Though the chapter did not cover the main story arc, this stand-alone episode was highly entertaining. Elizabeth (Tiffani Thiessen), Peter's wife, is back from her business trip, but she is still mostly occupied with work, even on a Saturday. Peter realizes this inconvenience and promises Liz that tonight will be their official date night. He will even make his famous pot roast for dinner. The dialogue between the two was refreshing and well-missed. Behind the scenes, Tiffani Thiessen was in fact pregnant during the first season and series creator, Jeff Eastin, along with the writers, had to accommodate the scenes for her maternity leave.
Though fans would have liked to see more of this reunion, Peter will obviously not make it date night. His latest case deals with a former federal agent on the run from the law. Peter and Neal follow their investigation to a former colleague of the agent, who is a car saleswoman. While Peter pretends to be interested in buying the Ferrari, Neal tries to retrieve data from her computer.
They both find out that this fugitive is actually being set up by a corrupt U.S. Marshall. Unfortunately for Peter, the escapee crashes his home, ruining the pot roast being prepared for Liz. With the Marshall destroying evidence that will exonerate the fugitive, Peter has no choice to hide the runaway he is supposed to arrest.
No date night for Pete and Liz
In a surprising twist, Peter turns to Neal's loyal friend, Mozzie (Willie Garson), for help. Mozzie hides the two at his dojo, which is a beautiful place with plants, sand, and an indoor fountain. While Pete is busy coming up with a backup plan, it is up to Mozzie to show up for date night. Mozzie and Liz strike up a warming conversation, as he calms down her fears while proving that her framed husband is still safe. Hopefully, viewers will see more of this team up between Mozzie and "Mrs. Suit."
Prisoner's dilemma is a tricky con to place two accomplices against each other. The Marshall's devious tactics fall apart when he witnesses his crime partner talking to Peter's agents. Neil sneakily swipes the key to his tracking anklet after the Marshall is being arrested. Now Neil can move freely whenever he chooses.
Future episodes will be interesting to watch as Neil can now move around undetected. With the mystery of Kate's killer still unresolved, White Collar is definitely must-see TV.
